Love & Profit: 10 Ways to Transform Customers into Lustomers

Love & Profit: 10 Ways to Transform Customers into Lustomers

Practice Your Pitch (PYP) began out of a passion for giving back and helping others succeed. Helping others distill information and be understood is one of the best feelings ever! (I talk more about that here.)

Admittedly, I was nervous that nobody would show up because I didn’t know any of the people who had RSVP’d on Meetup. Plus, with a free event, you never know how many people will actually attend*.

I was blown away by the turnout at the premier: we filled the Butterfly Room at The Riveter Fremont! I was most excited about the diversity in the room: a startup founder helping pet parents find a furry family member that fits their lifestyle, general jobseekers, and corporate ladder-climbers. It was an awesome mix with multiple industries and roles represented, and the full spectrum of race, gender, and age. The problems we helped solve in those first couple of sessions were just as diverse!

In one-on-one “pitch” sessions we discussed how to:

  • Break the ice with a recruiter at a networking event

  • Land your elevator pitch

  • Humanize technical information

  • Grab the attention of nonprofit decision makers

  • Create curiosity and be memorable over the phone

We received a lot of great feedback and have learned a ton in just a few months’ time.

Our challenge for Q2? We aim to expand and grow the PYP community to impact more people.

The same month we launched PYP, 3C Comms participated in the first-ever ProDev Day.

ProDev (professional + development) is an educational event series, created by Young Professionals of Seattle, featuring discussions with business leaders and mentors. They focus on entrepreneurship, career development, and professional networking.

ProDev Day is a quarterly, conference style event that celebrates ALL professionals. 3C provided open office hours during the free co-working day at ATLAS Workbase, and our principal Bryan Rutberg joined Founders Live’s Nick Hughes on stage for a fireside chat on mentorship.

It was another great day of helping professionals with their messaging. Plus, Bryan’s insights on leadership and mentorships were well-received. The event was a great fit for us.

The opportunity seemed crystal clear. I approached ProDev about their programming, and pitched PYP as a hands-on experience they could offer to their community. I’m happy to announce that Practice Your Pitch will now be brought to you by 3C Comms AND ProDev.

We’ll be debuting this partnership at ProDev Day Q2 on Wednesday, May 9th.

THIS ALL-DAY EVENT INCLUDES FREE USE OF ATLAS WORKBASE’S CO-WORKING SPACE WITH A TON OF ACTIVITIES BUILT IN THROUGHOUT THE DAY, INCLUDING WORKSHOPS AND A JOB FAIR. THE EVENING WILL WRAP UP WITH A FIRESIDE CHAT ON BRAND MANAGEMENT AND A NETWORKING HAPPY HOUR.

PYP will begin at 10 a.m., so be sure to arrive early. Take a moment to register now and get this on your calendar.

If you can’t wait until the 9th for insights and tips on how to communicate more effectively, check out our Resources page or reach out to me directly at christina@3ccomms.com.

*BIG shout-out to Practice Your Pitch guest coach and colleague Ric Jacobs who generously donated his time at the second-ever PYP event. It may not have been as well-attended, but it still brought great value to those who attended!
